South Albany High School Principal John Hunter has announced he will retire at the end of the school year. Hunter has been a member of the GAPS team since 1997 and has held a number of positions in the district. He has previously served as principal at Albany Options School, as well as Central and Takena Elementary Schools. He has also served as an assistant principal at West Albany High School, as well as at South Albany High School. Prior to GAPS, Hunter taught for nine years in Coos Bay. A farewell feature story on Hunter and his years of service to GAPS will be published in May.
