Athletics attendance and streaming

Posted on: March 2, 2021

We are excited to be starting up our Season 4 competitions! As we begin to start these games and matches, there are a few things we need you to be aware of.

The Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) says that schools must adhere to the venue capacity limits outlined in the Oregon Health Authority’s (OHA) Sector Risk Level Guidance Chart. Capacity limits include everyone at the facility, including players, coaches, officials, staff, athletic trainers, game workers, and fans.

We are working to have our streaming service installed and ready by our first contest. You can get a subscription to the streaming service by going online to www.nfhsnetwork.com and type in South Albany High School or West Albany High School. It will take you to our NFHS pages. You would then sign up for a subscription. The subscription is $10.99 a month or $69.99 for a year. This subscription allows you to access games at our stadium, in our main gym, and at most of our competing schools as well for all streamed sports. NFHS Network has partnered with the OSAA to bring this streaming service to schools around the state.

While the district has waived athletic participation fees for the academic year, we realize this cost may be prohibitive for some families. For the remainder of this school year only, student athlete’s immediate families can request a district-paid subscription if the cost of a subscription causes a challenge. Please note that this COVID-related relief is for the remainder of this school year only and just for the immediate family of student-athletes competing in a sport.

We know it is difficult during this time. We are happy that our student-athletes have been allowed to compete and we do not want to jeopardize that in any way. Thank you for your understanding.

Please contact the athletic department of your school if the cost of a subscription would be a burden for your family.
