Posted on: October 5, 2020

NEWS RELEASE

The Linn County Unit of the League of Women Voters of Oregon and South Albany High School are cosponsoring two election forums this season—one for Albany mayoral candidates, on Thursday, October 8, and one for council candidates, on Thursday, October 15. Both forums will be held online, as Zoom webinars, and will be live-streamed on YouTube.

The October 8 forum will feature Sharon Konopa, Albany’s current mayor, and her opponent, Alex Johnson, who is currently a member of the Albany City Council.

The October 15 forum will include five candidates for Albany City Council: Keith Kolkow and Sean Knowles (Ward I); Amanda Dant and Ray Kopczynski (Ward II), and Marilyn Smith (Ward III). (Two other candidates, Jessi Brenneman and Matilda Novak, have declined to participate.)

Both forums will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be moderated by Rena Howard, a member of the debate team at South Albany High School. South Albany history students have prepared questions for both forums.

Pre Registration is required for joining the Zoom forums and can be done by visiting the Linn County Unit of the League of Women Voters of Oregon Facebook page where the link for the YouTube live-stream will also be available
